Team

Our team is distributed over five institutions: Know-Center GmbH (Austria), The Open University (UK), Technische Universität Graz (Austria), Universidade do Minho (Portugal) and Goettingen State and University Library (Germany). The team meets regularly virtually and in person and works closely together.

Tony Ross-Hellauer

Tony is an information scientist with a background in philosophy. He is project coordinator (PI) and contributes across the whole project.

Thomas Klebel

Thomas is a sociologist. He is project manager and contributes to the investigation of Matthew effects in academia and industry.

Angela Fessl

Angela has a background in computer science. As work package and task leader in the project she investigates the uptake of open data and science in industry.

Anja Rainer

Anja is a sociologist with expertise in empirical research methods and political sociology. She contributes to project management and to the investigation of Matthew-effects and incentives in RRI and Open Science.

Ilire Hasani-Mavriqi

Ilire is a computer scientist. In ON-MERRIT she will work on modelling structural properties of networks to identify Matthew effects and simulate possible interventions.

Viktoria Pammer-Schindler

As assistant professor and research area manager, Viktoria researches digital technologies for knowledge-intensive activities like learning and knowledge construction in organisations.

Nicki Lisa Cole

Nicki is a sociologist with expertise in political economy and sustainability. In ON-MERRIT, she contributes to investigating the impact open science has on the uptake of research by policy-makers.

Bernhard Wieser

Bernhard is STS-researcher. In ON-MERRIT, he contributes to investigating the impact open science has on the uptake of research by policy-makers.

Stefan Reichmann

Stefan is a sociologist. In ON-MERRIT, he contributes to investigating the impact open science has on the uptake of research by policy-makers.

Petr Knoth

Being a researcher in the areas of text-mining, digital libraries and open science and the founder & head of CORE, Petr is Scientific Coordinator of ON-MERRIT.

David Pride

David is a computer scientist. His work focuses on the Matthew Effect in Open Science and the ramifications for responsible research metrics.

Nancy Pontika

With a background in scholarly communications and open access, Nancy works on collecting and analysing promotion policies from institutions and investigate links between open science and career progression.

Eloy Rodrigues

Eloy is library director. He is mostly involved in the actvities related to policy-making and policy recommendations.

Pedro Príncipe

Pedro leads the Documentation Services unit. In ON-MERRIT he investigates the uptake of RRI and Open Science principles in relation to policy and training.

Antónia Correia

Antónia has a background in library and information science and is mostly involved in policy and training analysis, as well as in the policy recommendations.

Birgit Schmidt

Birgit leads the Knowledge Commons unit where she coordinators the library’s open science activities. Her role in the project is community manager.

Najko Jahn

Najko is data analyst with a background in library and information science and philosophy. He investigates open science practices in patent literature.

Ilaria Fava

With a background in library science, Ilaria leads the communication activities and contributes to data collection for policy and training analysis.
